Welcome: An Introduction

Welcome, OTC students, faculty, staff, and other potentially interested ones, to the official Ozarks Technical Community College Bookstore blog! Here, you’ll be given the latest information regarding what's happening around the bookstore, as well as an insider's look into our daily operations.

What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of a college bookstore? A load of heavy books? An empty wallet? A heartless, faceless business with employees who are little more than cogs in a twisted money-grubbing machine?

Hopefully we can alleviate those feelings.

Yeah, the OTC Bookstore is a business first and foremost, but we’re far more than that. We’re students,  instructors, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers—no different than anyone else. But don't just take my word for it. Allow me to use myself as an example.

I graduated from OTC in 2009 with an AAS in Electronic Media Production and the desire to potentially write for TV and movies. Circumstances changed, and I ended up getting a job at the OTC Bookstore. When I’m not helping students find their textbooks, registering students for their SmartCards, or hauling boxes around the warehouse, my hobbies include reading, drawing, cartooning, playing video games, long walks, and perhaps more than anything, writing (needless to say, the thought of a blogging position opening up at my job excited me). We’ll be delving into greater detail regarding the various bookstore employees in later blog entries.

With introductions out of the way, we sincerely hope that you become a frequent visitor to our blog for the latest information on upcoming deals, events, important info, and lots of fun stuff regarding our lil' store. And don’t forget to keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter page as well.
